FuelAL-Dothan Connects Young Talent to Community and Opportunity
FuelAL is a statewide talent attraction and retention initiative led by the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama (EDPA) in partnership with Innovate Alabama. The program connects college students and interns with Alabama’s industries, communities and career opportunities through experiences that extend beyond their day-to-day internships. Its goal is simple: help young professionals see Alabama as a place where they can build both a career and a life.
The Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to partner with the Economic Development Partnership of Alabama to bring FuelAL to the Wiregrass and help recruit and retain our region’s young talent.
In the summer of 2026, 27 interns representing 10 local employers participated in FuelAL-Dothan, connecting with local leaders, businesses and community organizations while experiencing firsthand what makes Dothan a great place to live, work and grow.
Throughout the summer, interns took part in professional development, community service, networking and social experiences. They helped Downtown Books relocate to its new Foster Street location during Downtown Refueled, learned what employers are really looking for during an interactive professional development breakfast, explored entrepreneurship and innovation at the Wiregrass Innovation Center, and wrapped up the summer with an afternoon of fun and connection at Ravenwood Sporting Clays.
More than a series of events, FuelAL-Dothan is about creating connections – to people, opportunities and the community. By giving young professionals a chance to experience Dothan beyond the workplace. We hope they leave knowing there is a place for them here and a community ready to welcome them back.
