What has Grow Dothan Accomplished?

Since 1994, Grow Dothan has had a significant impact in the Wiregrass area’s business arena, focusing on supporting existing industry growth, recruiting and expanding the area’s industrial base, developing and addressing key infrastructure needs to support growth, exposing the Dothan region to more domestic and international investors, and building the support and resources to grow the area. Over the last few years, the program has accomplished the following:

• Southern Roots Nut Company – Southern Roots Nut Company is a wholesale supplier of both inshell and shelled pecans. Our pecans are sourced from the United States and Mexico. We are Safe Quality Foods (SQF) Level 3 and Kosher Certified, as well as, Halaal Compliant, and can handle a variety of packaging options and all volumes. Our quality, food safety programs, services and prices are industry leading and our processing plant is fully automated to ensure consistency and efficiency.
• Fed Ex Ground Distribution Center – Added a new 317,000 square foot distribution center at Sam Houston Industrial Park.
• Added a new 100,000 square foot Speculative Building at Sam Houston Industrial Park that is located on 23 acres and expandable for new and existing business expansion.
• Located ISA Alabama Corporation at the Geneva County Industrial Park – ISA Alabama Corp.’s product profile involves nitrile gloves, latex gloves and boot coverings that supply an array of industry sectors.
• Located Peak Renewables Bioenergy (Dothan) LLC – Peak Renewables is a manufacturer of biomass pellets, currently constructing a new facility in Dothan Alabama with an approximate capacity of 150K tons per year.
• Located and Expanded SmartLam North America – SmartLam’s Southeast production facility in Dothan, Alabama is the first manufacturer to offer Southern Yellow Pine CLT products in the US. The state of the art 225,000 square-foot plant is ANSI/APA certified and meets all the requirements to achieve PRG 320 product certification. Additionally, SmartLam added another 140,000 square foot Glulam facility, which makes this the largest mass timber manufacturing site in the United States.
• Acquired a 446 acre industrial site, named “Westgate Super Site” to position the area for a major industrial site to potential manufacturers. The site is uniquely positioned to serve high users of electricity as it has some of the best electric support in the Southeast United States.
• Added the 86 acre Napier Field Industrial Site that will be fully infrastructure with roads, water, sewer, power, fiber to provide sites for new manufacturing opportunities.
